Dr. Gunam Iyathurai, DVM, Msc

Veterinarian
Gunam is a highly experienced veterinarian with a deep passion for animal care and welfare. He was born and raised on a farm in rural area of Sri Lanka, where he learned the value of hard work and dedication from an early age. Growing up in a farming family, he was constantly surrounded by animals, and his love for them only grew stronger as he got older. Gunam attended University of Peradeniya, where he obtained his Bachelor degree in Veterinary Medicine. He then went on to pursue his Master’s degree in Animal Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC). During his time in veterinary school, he developed a particular interest in small animal medicine and surgery. During the time at UBC, he was teaching pre-veterinary students and involved in many research projects. His enthusiasm to become clinician to treat sick pets was foremost and alive throughout the course of his research career. Gunam then went on to complete certifications from Canadian and American Veterinary Medical Associations and has been practicing in Canada as a small animal veterinarian for the past 6 years. He has been working as a general practitioner and locum emergency/critical care veterinarian in many hospitals in the lower mainland area. His area of interest are emergency medicine and soft tissue surgery. Outside of the practice, he spends the time with his family and two cats, Charlie and Speedy. He finds great joy in spending time outdoors and being active. Some of his favorite activities include camping, hiking, and running.

Meet Stacey, a dedicated and valued member of our team from Edmonton known not only for her expertise but also for her knack for lifting the mood in any room or situation she is in. Stacey has a deep love for all animals, especially exotics! With years of experience in the veterinary medicine field, Stacey brings warmth, compassion, and a commitment to providing top-notch care (and cuddles) to every animal she encounters. At home she spends her time watching anime with her dogs Kiba and Chad, who happen to keep her motivated and inspired everyday!

With years of experience in the veterinary medicine field, Emily brings knowledge and a steady hand to every situation. She also has a great smile that is guaranteed to make you smile as well! Emily’s passion for learning and dedication to her work reflects on how she is always ready to support both animals and their owners with empathy and skill! At home, she’s kept on her toes by her silly cat baby, Brad.
